“Sponsor a Student” Benefitting SJA School: 2025 – ’26 school year
- Thank you for considering a donation to the Melissa Steinke Scholarship “Sponsor a Student” program benefitting St. Joan of Arc Catholic School (SJA) in Bettendorf, Iowa. Melissa was a passionate Catholic, who truly understood the value of a faith-based education not only for families, but to benefit the greater faith community as well.
  
  Melissa was always, “On fire” for the Lord. She loved to evangelize the Catholic faith to anyone who would listen, and knew the future of the Catholic church greatly depends on growing intentional disciples through Catholic education. One of her favorite gospel passages was Matthew 15:27, “Yes Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” During her battle with cancer, she humbly accepted any blessings she received, and offered up all of her suffering to the Lord with love and thanksgiving. Melissa was an active parish member until her passing in 2015.

- All SJA families are required to contribute $1,300 per year (equal to current tithing for parish members) to help subsidize the cost of education, and asked to consider a voluntary recommended donation per student starting at $2,250 to help pay the mortgage on the new, state-of-the-art SJA school. (These funds are separate from the State of Iowa ESA funds). We understand not all families have the means to fully participate financially, so by “Sponsoring a Student,” you not only support these families, you ensure our school remains a vibrant beacon for Catholic education for many years to come.
